Israeli MKs Take Walla's Election Quiz, Many Align Closely with Likud

Ahead of the upcoming elections, Walla launched a digital political alignment quiz covering key issues such as security, economy, and religion-state relations. In a special project, several Knesset members answered the quiz live, revealing surprising results about their political affinities.

Religious Zionist MK Simcha Rothman expressed strong opposition to targeted tax hikes and the two-state solution, supporting settlement expansion and reducing the Supreme Court's powers. Despite being a member of Religious Zionism, his highest alignment was with Likud at 93%, followed by Otzma Yehudit, with his own party ranking third. Rothman responded to this unexpected outcome with an embarrassed smile.

Likud-aligned Otzma Yehudit MK Ohad Tal also showed right-wing traditionalist views, opposing peace agreements with Palestinians and civil marriages, while supporting full annexation of Judea and Samaria and the death penalty for terrorists. Tal’s quiz results showed a 97% match with Likud, surpassing his own party. On ultra-Orthodox enlistment, he advocated gradual integration and dialogue.

On the center-liberal side, MK Moshe Tur-Paz of the Together party supported public transportation on Shabbat, civil marriages, limiting prime minister terms to two, and mandatory enlistment and core studies for Haredim. He remained neutral on Arab parties in coalition and housing subsidies. His highest alignment was with Avigdor Lieberman’s Yisrael Beiteinu, followed by his own party and then Gadi Eizenkot’s Yashar.

The quiz results highlight unexpected cross-party affinities among Israeli lawmakers, reflecting complex political identities ahead of the elections. Walla invites the public to take the quiz to discover which party best represents their views.
