Lior Hayat Appointed Israeli Ambassador to Rome and Non-Resident Ambassador to Malta and San Marino

The Israeli government has unanimously approved Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar's proposal to appoint Lior Hayat as Israel's ambassador to Rome. In addition to his role in Italy, Hayat will serve as a non-resident ambassador to Malta and San Marino. He will also act as Israel's permanent representative to the United Nations food and agriculture agencies.

Currently, Hayat is the Deputy Director for North America at the Israeli Foreign Ministry headquarters in Jerusalem. His previous roles include spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, Consul General in Miami, and head of the Central America and Caribbean Department. Prior to the government's approval, the appointment was endorsed by the Ministerial Committee for Foreign Service Appointments, chaired by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar.
