Haredi IDF Absconder Detained in Lod Freed After Residents Protest

Early Sunday morning around 5:00 AM, police responded to a noise complaint in the Ahisamach neighborhood of Lod and detained a man identified as an absconder from the Israel Defense Forces. Military police representatives were summoned to the scene. Shortly after the arrest, dozens of local residents arrived to protest, having been alerted by a community notification system about the detention of the absconder. Due to concerns that forcibly removing the man could spark violent disturbances, a police officer from the Lod station decided to release him despite the presence of military police forces. Following the announcement of his release, the crowd celebrated with lively dancing in the neighborhood streets.
