Haredi Youth Released After Arrest Sparks Early Morning Protest in Lod

In the early hours of Sunday morning, police from the Lod station detained a Haredi yeshiva student in the Ahisamach neighborhood following a noise complaint. During identity checks, officers discovered the young man was classified as a military deserter. Consequently, the military police were summoned to take him into custody. Around 5:30 a.m., the "Black Flag" system alerted local residents, prompting dozens to gather at the scene to protest the planned handover to the military authorities. After the crowd assembled and demonstrated, the detained youth was released by the Lod police just minutes before the military police arrived. The protest concluded with the crowd breaking into singing and dancing to celebrate his release.
