Photographer Ariel Ravinsky Captures Alaska's Historic AK-4 Highway in Stunning 12-Hour Journey

Photographer Ariel Ravinsky presents a special fourth installment from his Alaska journey, showcasing the captivating and historic AK-4 highway stretching from Delta Junction to Valdez. This 430-kilometer road runs north to south and is renowned for its dramatic and diverse landscapes, including vast forests, massive rivers, snow-capped peaks, and striking mountain passes.

In the southern section, the highway passes through Keystone Canyon, a dramatic hollow canyon where the road winds alongside a river bordered by towering rock walls and famous waterfalls. Along much of the route, the iconic Trans-Alaska Pipeline runs parallel, adding to the area's significance.

Originally planned as a six-hour drive, Ravinsky recounts that the trip took approximately 12 hours due to numerous stops at scenic highlights along the way. His photographs capture the powerful and changing natural beauty of this remarkable Alaskan route, offering viewers a vivid glimpse into the state's wilderness and history.
