About 20 ultra-Orthodox technicians begin training service at Tel Nof Air Base
About 20 ultra-Orthodox technicians were integrated last week into an underground shelter at the Israel Air Force base in Tel Nof, the IDF said. They are set to begin working on F-15 B/C/D aircraft in Squadron 106, known as "Hod HaHanit".
According to the military, the technicians completed an Army technical course for junior-level technicians at the technical base in Haifa. The training lasted about two months and was adapted to their religious lifestyle.
The IDF said the move is part of an operational need and of broader efforts to expand enlistment. Those efforts include widening existing tracks, implementing the General Staff order, making adjustments to training and to service conditions, and allowing advancement into command and officer roles.
The military said the goal is to enable meaningful service while fully preserving the ultra-Orthodox way of life.
