Religious Zionist Rabbis Urge Youth to Join Temple Mount Police Unit

A coalition of prominent rabbis from across the Religious Zionist spectrum has issued a rare joint call for young people to enlist in the Temple Mount Police Unit. In a special video released by the Temple Mount Yeshiva, the rabbis emphasized that serving in this unit is both a national and spiritual mission of exceptional significance. They urged increasing the presence of Torah-observant individuals at Judaism's holiest site.

Among the rabbis featured in the video were Shmuel Eliyahu, Dov Lior, Shlomo Aviner, Elyakim Levanon, Dudi Dudkevitz, Yaakov Medan, and Zalman Melamed. Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu remarked, "If I were not a rabbi, I might enlist myself. This is such a holy place, so important, truly the conquest of the heart of the land." Rabbi Shlomo Aviner called on young men to join, stating, "A God-fearing Jew, it is precious to enlist as a police officer on the Temple Mount. This police role is a great mitzvah." Rabbi Zalman Melamed also supported the appeal, encouraging Torah-observant youth to serve in this sacred role.

The head of the Temple Mount Yeshiva highlighted the importance of the initiative, noting that the Israel Police is currently recruiting officers for the unit. He described the opportunity as a "holy and very important mission," calling it a "great privilege" and "a dream of generations" to serve on the Temple Mount.

This unified call reflects the religious-national significance attributed to the Temple Mount and aims to strengthen Jewish presence and security at the site through dedicated police service.
