Suspect in Benyahu Razi Murder Sent Message Claiming Partner Was Seriously Ill Before Deadly Attack
In the ongoing investigation into the murder of Benyahu Razi in a rented apartment in Jerusalem's Nahalat Shiva neighborhood, authorities revealed a message sent by Agam Tzarfati, the suspect accused of ordering the killing of her ex-partner. According to investigators, shortly before the murder near the end of Shabbat, Tzarfati informed her IDF commander that she would not report for duty because "my partner passed away" and added that "he was very ill." This message was presented to her during interrogation as part of the evidence against her.
The murder occurred in an apartment near the Mahane Yehuda market, where Razi and a close friend were allegedly lured by Tzarfati and her accomplice, Shilat Huta. The evening turned violent when several youths were summoned following claims that Razi and his friend had attacked the women. Razi was brutally stabbed to death while his friend was injured trying to defend him and initially detained on suspicion of involvement but later cleared.
Police described the murder as "cruel and well-documented," accusing Tzarfati and Huta of orchestrating the killing. The investigation uncovered a toxic relationship between Razi and Tzarfati, marked by threats and conflicts in the months leading up to the murder. Tzarfati is considered a central suspect who coordinated the attack, reportedly watching the assault via video call while not physically present. Huta allegedly managed the video call and was found with Razi's blood on her phone.
Further complicating the case, Linor Sasson, mother of the main suspect Aviaor Sasson, is suspected of aiding the perpetrators and obstructing justice. Additionally, a police officer and sister of Tzarfati was arrested for failing to report details of the crime after meeting with involved parties. Aviaor Sasson was apprehended last week in a dramatic police operation after attempting to flee, following revelations of a prison officer’s involvement in aiding his escape.
The Jerusalem District Prosecutor's Office is expected to file indictments against all suspects by Friday, with courts extending their detention. The case highlights a complex network of relationships and criminal actions surrounding the murder of Benyahu Razi.
