Mother and Son Arrested in Kiryat Gat for Drug Trafficking Amid Lawyer's Drug Smuggling Case
A woman in her 70s and her son in his 40s from Kiryat Gat were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of drug trafficking and possession. Police raided their home and discovered crystal meth, which was seized for further investigation. The Kiryat Gat police chief, Superintendent Shay Elali, stated that the Israeli Police are continuously and determinedly combating drug offenses and those involved in their distribution. He emphasized that intelligence and operational efforts enable the police to identify suspects, seize suspected drugs, and prevent criminal activities that threaten public safety and residents' quality of life. The arrests of the mother and son come a day after a lawyer was detained for allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs to a prisoner during a jail visit. The lawyer reportedly tried to pass suspected drugs to the inmate she represents, but the substance was confiscated and is under investigation.
