Mark-Paul Gosselaar Surprises Fans With Ripped Physique at Toronto Promotion
Mark-Paul Gosselaar, best known as Zack Morris from the 1990s hit "Saved by the Bell," drew attention last week at a media event in Toronto, Canada, by appearing in unusually muscular shape at age 52. The father of four was there to promote his new comedy series, "Bulges," which is described as a female version of Hooters, centered on a male staff at a restaurant in Niagara Falls.
Gosselaar embraced the theme of the show by taking the stage in a tight white crop top, very short shorts, and knee-high striped socks. The outfit highlighted his abs, arms, and legs, and he seemed to enjoy the spectacle, dancing onstage and blowing kisses to the cheering crowd. A TikTok user who posted footage of the appearance joked that she had not realized Zack Morris was still so attractive.
The actor later explained that his physique is the result of a disciplined routine he has followed for years. On a podcast earlier this year, he said he practices Brazilian jiu-jitsu and relies more on good sleep and balanced eating than on obsessing over protein. He said he eats quality food when he wants to and does not worry if he misses a post-workout protein meal. He also uses ice baths to reduce inflammation after training and goes to a sauna every night before bed.
Gosselaar has a stable family life and has been married to Catriona McGinn since 2012. They have two children, ages 12 and 9, and he also has two adult children, ages 22 and 20, from his previous marriage to Lisa Ann Russell. Although he never matched the fame of his "Saved by the Bell" breakthrough, he remains active in television, recently starring in NBC's "Found" and ABC's "Will Trent." In a interview two years ago, he said he felt deep sympathy for child actors who were abused on set, but stressed that his own experience on the "Saved by the Bell" set was different because it was run professionally, with producers watching over the cast and teachers accompanying them. He said he and his co-stars, including Mario Lopez, Elizabeth Berkley, Tiffani Thiessen and the late Dustin Diamond, came through that period unharmed.
