Sinwar Letter on October 7 Reveals Hamas-Hizbollah Coordination in New Intelligence Exhibit

A new Military Intelligence exhibition in Glilot displays a handwritten Arabic letter found in a Gaza tunnel, reportedly signed by Yahya Sinwar, Mohammed Deif, Marwan Issa and addressed to Hassan Nasrallah. The writer says the text was composed in the early hours of October 7, 2023, and urged the Hezbollah leader to join Hamas’s assault on Israel.

In the letter, Sinwar says that thousands of Al-Qassam Brigades fighters would move to strike, targeting what he calls “the Zionist criminal occupation,” including military outposts, settlements, airports and major road junctions in southern “occupied Palestine.” He adds, “Forgive us for not sharing with you the secret of the attack,” and predicts a “new kind of behavior” if Hamas achieves what it calls a tactical victory.

The letter also tells Nasrallah to act quickly and join the fight, saying that if Hezbollah helps defend Islam, they will defeat and humiliate the enemy together. The exhibit presents the document in its original language and, according to the article, also reflects earlier discussions between secret Hamas, Hezbollah and Iranian envoys about the assault on Israel.

The piece says Sinwar linked the attack to events at Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque and to blocking Arab normalization with Israel. It also says he mentioned Iranian missiles, nuclear plans and the fall of an Arab regime in Syria. The exhibition, jointly run by the IDF Intelligence Directorate, Mossad and Shin Bet, is open to the public, with Israeli citizens, foreign visitors and diplomats invited to see it ahead of President Isaac Herzog’s visit on Thursday.
