Seven Rescued After Boat Capsizes in the Sea of Galilee

Seven people were pulled from the water after a boat overturned in the Sea of Galilee on Thursday, in an incident that ended with one man in moderate condition and the rest unharmed. Magen David Adom said its sea ambulance was dispatched after the report, as part of its summer deployment in the area.

By the time medics and paramedics arrived, a civilian boat had already rescued all seven passengers. Everyone was conscious, but a 32-year-old man had suffered a significant chest injury. He received advanced treatment at the scene and was transferred to an MDA intensive care ambulance that arrived at the nearby Ginosar beach.

The injured man was taken to the North Medical Center in Poria in moderate condition. The other six passengers were examined at the site and did not need hospital evacuation.

MDA volunteer paramedic Yair Arzi and medic Muhammad Yahya said, “As every summer, we staff the MDA sea ambulance to secure and provide medical treatment in the Sea of Galilee area. As soon as we received the report about the overturned boat, we went to the scene and joined a civilian boat that had rescued seven people, all conscious.” They added, “One of them, a 32-year-old man, suffered a significant chest injury.” The incident comes amid a recent series of rescues and drownings in the Sea of Galilee, and local authorities continue to warn visitors to follow safety rules, especially during the busy summer season.
