Two Suspects Attack Police at Ashdod Beach, Officers Fire Warning Shots

Over the weekend, police received a report of disorder and assault on municipal inspectors at Mei Ami Beach in Ashdod. Upon arrival, inspectors identified several suspects, which led to a disturbance and the summoning of police forces to manage the situation. During the intervention, a crowd gathered, and inspectors and police officers were attacked while attempting to maintain public order and detain those involved. Due to the escalating violence, officers resorted to crowd control measures, including firing warning shots when one officer perceived a real threat to their safety.

Two suspects were arrested on suspicion of assaulting police and inspectors and were taken to Ashdod police station for further investigation. Several officers and inspectors sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment as needed. Ronen Amram, commander of the Ashdod police station, described the incident as a serious act of violence against law enforcement personnel performing their duties. He emphasized that the officers had to use appropriate measures to regain control and arrest the suspects.
