5.2 Magnitude Earthquake in Egypt Felt Across Southern and Central Israel

A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck near Egypt around 3:00 AM on Monday, with its epicenter approximately 38 kilometers from Suez and about 316 kilometers from Israel. The tremor was widely felt across southern and central Israel, including cities such as Eilat, Ashkelon, Be'er Ya'akov, Rehovot, Dimona, and Kiryat Gat. Residents reported noticeable shaking, with some describing furniture movement and beds shifting. Despite the widespread sensation, no injuries or significant damage have been reported.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) confirmed the earthquake's epicenter near Suez, Egypt. Social media users shared their experiences, with one resident from Eilat exclaiming, "Everything was shaking," while others from different towns echoed similar observations.

Authorities issued safety guidelines for earthquake situations, advising people indoors to seek shelter in protected rooms like a safe space (Mamad), keep doors and windows open, or move to stairwells while avoiding windows and external walls. Those outside were instructed to stay in open areas away from buildings, bridges, and electrical installations. Beachgoers were warned to move at least one kilometer inland or to higher floors due to tsunami risks.
