Ron Aharon Kars Releases 'Hallelujah' Blending Psalms, Breslov Spirituality, and Reggae

Musician Ron Aharon Kars has released "Hallelujah," the first single from his new album "Tikkun HaKlali Reggae Jam." The song combines Psalm 150 from the Book of Psalms, traditionally attributed to King David, with reggae rhythms and an acoustic arrangement. Kars, who composed, sang, and produced the track himself, describes the song as expressing gratitude, love for the Creator, and spiritual elevation, reflecting the overall spirit of the album.

Kars’s personal journey intertwines diverse musical and spiritual influences. Raised in a secular home, he began playing piano at age five and later learned accordion, exploring jazz, blues, and electronic music. Approaching age 30, after spiritual travels in India and Israel, he deepened his faith and embraced Breslov Hasidism.

Thirteen years ago, Kars released "Tikkun HaKlali Reggae," a project setting the ten psalms of the "Tikkun HaKlali" to roots reggae music. Now, he revisits these psalms with new arrangements that rely less on traditional drum kits and more on percussion instruments, incorporating additional musical influences. Initially intending to produce a purely acoustic reggae reinterpretation, the recording process led to a unique style difficult to categorize strictly as reggae, which inspired him to create a full album in this vein.
