Amir Strugo of Bennett’s Party Affirms Partnership with Yair Golan’s Democrats

Amir Strugo, a candidate from Naftali Bennett’s 'Together' party, discussed potential cooperation with the 'Democrats' party led by Yair Golan during an interview on Galey Yisrael radio with Sharon Gal. When challenged about accusations from 'Democrats' members blaming West Bank residents for recent security escalations, Strugo avoided direct condemnation, emphasizing his focus on advancing Israel towards stability and joint development rather than engaging in attacks.

Strugo acknowledged disagreements with some statements from the 'Democrats' but insisted that leadership would remain with his party. He stated, "He [Golan] will be our partner, but he will not set the tone in the government. Our goal is to have Zionist parties around the government table contributing to security and the economy."

Pressed on forming a coalition including left-wing figures such as Gabi Leski, Yaya Pink, Moshe Redman, and Yair Golan, Strugo admitted to ideological differences but highlighted shared goals. He said, "There are things I respect about them, and many issues where I completely disagree. Ultimately, Israel’s construction and future must move forward together."

The interview reflects ongoing discussions about coalition-building ahead of elections, with left-wing parties like the Democrats reportedly heading toward six Knesset seats, causing concern among the left. Strugo’s comments indicate a pragmatic approach to partnership despite ideological divides within Israel’s political landscape.
