Body Found in Car Near Iran's Training Site in Mexico

A body in an advanced state of decomposition was found near the Iranian national team’s training center in Tijuana, Mexico, just three days before its first match in the 2026 World Cup. On Monday, reports came in of a strong smell coming from a car parked outside the field.

A preliminary report says the body showed signs of violence and had been wrapped in a black bag. Witnesses said the suspicious vehicle had been parked there since last Wednesday.

The Iranian squad is being guarded by heavy security amid tensions with the United States. Iran is scheduled to play New Zealand on Tuesday at 4:00.
