Northern Negev's Beit Kama Junction Undergoes Major Environmental Cleanup and Upgrade

Beit Kama Junction, a key and busy stop in northern Negev, Israel, has long struggled with accumulated waste and overgrown vegetation, causing complaints from residents and visitors. Recently, the Bnei Shimon Regional Council launched an extensive cleanup operation, removing large piles of garbage from public areas near the commercial complex using dozens of trucks.

This cleanup marks only the initial phase of a broader effort to maintain the site. To prevent future deterioration, cooperation between the regional council, led by Nir Zamir, and private companies operating there, including Paz, has been established. Plans include jointly funded landscaping improvements by local business owners and the creation of a management company responsible for ongoing maintenance and cleanliness.

Additionally, the council intends to increase environmental and traffic enforcement, including better parking regulation, to ensure the junction remains orderly and clean. These steps aim to transform Beit Kama Junction into a more pleasant and sustainable public space for the many Israelis who use it daily.
