Northern Negev's Beit Kama Junction Undergoes Major Environmental Cleanup and Upgrade

Beit Kama Junction, a key and busy stop in northern Negev, Israel, has long suffered from accumulated waste and overgrown vegetation, prompting complaints from residents and visitors. Recently, the Bnei Shimon Regional Council launched a large-scale cleanup operation, removing heaps of garbage from public areas near the commercial complex using dozens of trucks.

This cleanup marks only the initial phase of a broader effort to maintain the site. To prevent recurrence of the environmental issues, cooperation between the regional council, led by Nir Zamir, and private companies operating in the area, including Paz, has been established. They agreed on ongoing measures such as jointly funding landscape planning and creating a management company responsible for regular maintenance and cleaning.

Additionally, the council plans to increase supervision and enforcement in the junction, focusing on environmental standards and traffic regulations, including organizing parking. These steps aim to transform Beit Kama Junction into a cleaner, better-maintained public space for the many Israelis who use it daily.
