Dispute Erupts Over Management Transfer of 'Knesset Hezekiah' Yeshiva in Rekhasim

About a month after reports surfaced regarding the planned transfer of management of the small yeshiva 'Knesset Hezekiah' in Rekhasim to Rabbi Rafael Manat, a dispute has emerged between the leadership of the larger yeshiva and that of the smaller institution. The leadership of the larger yeshiva has initiated a din torah (religious court proceeding) against the smaller yeshiva's management to block the transfer. This legal process is expected to be adjudicated by Rabbi Yosef Yechiel Mamberger, the chief rabbi of the Haredi community in Haifa.

Sources involved emphasize that this is not a sale of the yeshiva but rather a transfer of administrative responsibility, motivated by the financial difficulties faced by the smaller yeshiva. The transfer is not expected to take effect immediately, as it depends on the completion of the allocation process for a new building where the yeshiva is to operate. Consequently, the upcoming Elul period is unlikely to be affected by these developments.

One of the yeshiva's rabbis told Kikar HaShabbat that the dispute centers on the use of the name 'Knesset Hezekiah' and stressed that the management change aims to save the yeshiva and ensure its continued existence rather than constitute a sale.
