Tel Aviv Sushi Chain Moon Opens Stylish New Branch in Herzliya Pituah
Moon, a well-established sushi institution from Tel Aviv, has expanded its presence with a new, fashionable branch in Herzliya Pituah, marking its fourth location. The chain, which opened its flagship restaurant on Bogroshov Street in Tel Aviv 26 years ago in 2000, was among the first in Israel to introduce a conveyor belt sushi concept. After years of success, including a delivery branch and a large restaurant in Savyon opened in 2024, Moon continues its growth with plans for a fifth branch soon in Hod Hasharon.
The new Herzliya Pituah branch is located near the site of the former Aryeh Shenkar street, next to the long-standing Kyoto restaurant. Despite ongoing nearby construction causing some disruption, Moon promises improvements including an outdoor seating area between two office buildings. The interior features a stylish, somewhat dramatic design with large lighting fixtures, a hostess station, a long sushi bar adjacent to the sushi preparation area, and a gallery with additional seating where a DJ occasionally performs.
Moon’s sushi menu at the new branch is extensive and unique, focusing primarily on sushi but also offering izakaya dishes, ramen, Japanese-style chicken cutlets, skewers, and signature items like crab and shrimp croquettes with goat gouda. The sushi selection includes sashimi, tartare, various maki rolls, nigiri, and innovative rolls with ingredients such as foie gras, cooked fish, and seafood, with prices ranging from 35 to 78 shekels. The quality and freshness of ingredients match the high standards of the Tel Aviv and Savyon branches, making it one of the best sushi experiences in Israel.
However, the review notes a significant issue with service. Despite a well-staffed team and a quiet early visit, the staff appeared distracted by personal conversations and inattentive to customers. The reviewer hopes this service challenge will be resolved soon to elevate Moon Herzliya to the same excellent level as its sister locations.
