Report: Maccabi Tel Aviv Executive Claudio Coldebella Could Move to Rome Basketball Project
Italian reports on Friday said Claudio Coldebella, Maccabi Tel Aviv’s professional director, may leave after just one season for a new and ambitious role in Rome. Coldebella was appointed last summer, and according to the report he is the leading candidate to oversee the basketball project tied to former NBA star Luka Doncic and veteran coach Don Nelson.
The Italian claim said Maccabi Tel Aviv denied the rumor, but with the end of the season in Israel approaching, the chances of the move are said to be increasing. If it happens, Coldebella would take charge of a team described as aiming very high.
The Rome basketball club is expected to be unveiled officially on June 25, when the organizers plan to clarify the intentions behind the project. The club is expected to compete next season in the Italian league and is being built on the basis of another team, Cremona.
The report also said the Rome side is likely to play in the EuroCup as well, the competition that can serve as a route to EuroLeague qualification.
