Resident Yaal Shevach Condemns Ynet for Misreporting Shooting Near Givat Gilad

Following a double shooting and lynching attack near Givat Gilad that resulted in one Israeli civilian killed and three wounded, local resident Yaal Shevach sharply criticized Ynet for its coverage of the incident. Ynet's headline described the victims as "settlers" hiking in a Palestinian village, and claimed a Palestinian assailant seized a security guard's weapon and opened fire. Shevach vehemently denied these claims, stating the group was not "settlers" but an organized tour coordinated with the Israeli army, coming from Jerusalem and other locations. She also refuted the report that the hike took place inside a Palestinian village, clarifying that the route was pre-planned and approved by the military. Shevach concluded her response with a strong statement refusing any further interviews with Ynet. Her husband, Rabbi Raziel Shevach, was killed in a shooting attack near Givat Gilad in January 2018, and since then she has been active in commemorating his memory and supporting settlement efforts in the area.
