Abdoulaye Cissé Joins Saudi Club Al-Faisaly, Omits Maccabi Haifa From Welcome Message
After four seasons with Maccabi Haifa, Senegalese midfielder Abdoulaye Cissé has officially signed with Al-Faisaly, a Saudi Arabian club newly promoted to the top league. Upon his arrival, Al-Faisaly posted a welcome message featuring all the clubs Cissé previously played for, notably excluding Maccabi Haifa, reflecting the tense relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel.
During his tenure at Maccabi Haifa, Cissé made 147 appearances, scoring 14 goals and providing five assists. He contributed to the club's championship win, the Super Cup victory, and participated in the UEFA Champions League group stage as well as the UEFA Conference League round of 16.
Cissé's move marks a new chapter in his career as he leaves Israeli football behind, with the Saudi club choosing not to acknowledge his past in Israel in their official communications. The transfer was finalized after his contract with Maccabi Haifa expired.
