IDF: Metula Sirens Triggered by Drone Intercept Attempts in South Lebanon
The Israel Defense Forces said the alarms heard in Metula were activated after an attempt to intercept an unmanned aerial vehicle in southern Lebanon. According to the military, the air force shot down the drone after it was identified in an area where Israeli forces are operating.
The warning sirens in Metula had been triggered amid fears of a drone incursion and rocket fire. The IDF later clarified that the rocket and missile alerts in the town were activated because of the interception attempts, not because of a separate confirmed barrage.
