Rabbi Chaim Feinstein Urges Sanctity During Bein Hazmanim at Jerusalem Yeshiva

Rabbi Chaim Feinstein, head of the yeshiva, delivered the closing lecture of the summer study period at the large Tiferet Yisrael kollel in Jerusalem, led by Rabbi Israel Meir Druck. Hundreds of students from the Beit Midrash Elyon branch and the Mishkan Israel yeshiva for young men attended the event. In his speech, Rabbi Feinstein addressed themes of destruction and spiritual vigilance, emphasizing the importance of maintaining holiness during the upcoming Bein Hazmanim (interim vacation period).

He noted that while the yeshiva had focused on lofty spiritual matters throughout the summer, the approaching break requires a shift to practical concerns to protect the "personal sanctuary" each student has built through intense Torah study. Rabbi Feinstein warned against desecrating this sanctity by frequenting dangerous places such as markets and streets where negative influences prevail, especially given the difficult times. He cited halachic sources about the desecration of the Temple when outsiders entered, drawing a parallel to the need to guard one’s own spiritual "Temple."

Rabbi Feinstein encouraged students to set fixed times for Torah study even during the break, including attending Bein Hazmanim yeshiva sessions, to prevent spiritual decline.
