Tel Aviv suspect also questioned over alleged rape after camera complaints
Police are investigating Gur Levi, 25, of Tel Aviv, not only for allegedly filming women in changing rooms at the TLV Mall but now also on suspicion of rape. Levi was arrested on Tuesday after police published his photo and asked the public for help, and a court later extended his remand. Police say more women may still have complaints against him.
A young woman told investigators that Levi came to the pub where she worked, bought her an alcoholic drink and later persuaded her to come to his home. According to her testimony, after they continued drinking there she felt unwell and dizzy, and in the morning woke up as he was committing a sexual act against her. She said, "I said it hurt and that I did not want it." Police are also examining whether a rape drug was used, but no test results have been released.
After leaving his apartment, the complainant consulted people close to her and then went to Ichilov Hospital for medical checks. The latest complaint surfaced after the police publicized Levi’s image in the earlier filming case, which began when a social media personality said she saw a man photographing her in a fitting room. Levi denies the allegations, and his lawyer says the investigation is still in its early stages.
