Naama Lazimi Opposes Shin Bet Role in Arab Violence Fight, Calls for Police Support

Naama Lazimi, a Knesset member from the Democratic Party, described the upcoming Israeli elections as the most crucial in the country's history, emphasizing the need to win for the future of Israeli society. In an interview with the Arabic channel "Hala," she highlighted her recent success in preventing a 1.5 billion shekel cut to the five-year economic development plan for the Arab community, while accusing the government of planning an additional 500 million shekel reduction, which she called a "neglect of human lives." Lazimi criticized the government for lacking restraint, morality, and empathy.

Regarding the fight against crime in Arab society, Lazimi opposed involving the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), advocating instead for providing the police with advanced technological tools, legislative support, and sufficient funding and equipment. She stated that her party supports Jewish-Arab partnership within the coalition and plans to propose a new five-year plan for the Arab community, fully integrated into the state budget.

Lazimi also expressed her desire to serve as Minister of Education in the next government, pledging to work on reducing the budgetary gap between Arab state education and state-religious education systems.
