American Teachers Union Blames Israel for Palestinian Authority Teacher Pay Crisis

The American Federation of Teachers (AFT) adopted resolutions at its national convention accusing Israel of causing the teacher salary crisis in the Palestinian Authority territories. The union called for an immediate end to U.S. and Israeli military activities in Iran and Lebanon. Delegates demanded Israel halt its operations in Lebanon and stop the evacuation of Shiite communities from southern Lebanon. They also urged lifting the blockade on Iranian ports in exchange for ending the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Another resolution accused Israel of violating International Labour Organization protocols by delaying the transfer of Palestinian tax revenues, which the union said adversely affects the salaries of approximately 50,000 Palestinian teachers. These resolutions reflect the union's broader stance on Middle East conflicts and labor rights in the region.
