Ayelet Shaked and Yuli Edelstein Veto Benny Gantz Leading New Party List

Intense negotiations in recent days between Benny Gantz, Dedi Simchi, Yuli Edelstein, and Ayelet Shaked have reached an impasse over who should lead the new political list. Shaked and Edelstein firmly oppose Gantz heading the party, fearing it will not attract enough soft right-wing voters, the key demographic they aim to win. Previously, when Yoaz Hendel was involved, there was an agreement for joint leadership between Gantz and Simchi, with Gantz placed first. However, Hendel's departure to join Hili Tropper reopened leadership discussions.

Gantz insists on maintaining the top spot, citing his significant financial resources and infrastructure essential for running a large-scale campaign. Despite this deadlock, the four have agreed on the campaign's nature, public messaging, and ideological stance, positioning the list as a centrist party committed to pushing for a unity government after elections.

The main unresolved issue remains the leadership order and the concern from Shaked and Edelstein about losing right-wing votes. The group plans to continue talks in the coming days to try to bridge these gaps and finalize the leadership arrangement.
