Defense Minister Israel Katz Vows Strong Response to Iran During ZAKA Visit

Amid rising tensions with Iran, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz declared on Sunday that Israel will respond forcefully to any attack from Tehran. During his visit to ZAKA's national logistics center, Katz emphasized, "We have announced that if Iran attacks Israel, we will retaliate without deception and without conventions." Katz was accompanied by senior officials from the Defense Ministry and participated in a professional work session focused on national preparedness for emergency scenarios.

The meeting included ZAKA's leadership, such as CEO Dov Weissenshtreyn and Operations Deputy Director Chaim Wingarten, as well as Colonel Elazar Edri, Deputy Commander of the Home Front Command, and representatives from the Ministry of Religious Services and emergency agencies. Discussions centered on strengthening cooperation among all bodies and enhancing readiness for large-scale emergencies.

During the visit, Katz toured ZAKA's logistics center, receiving briefings on the organization's operational capabilities, advanced emergency equipment, and the preparedness of thousands of volunteers to respond to national emergencies. He also addressed the status of ZAKA volunteers, suggesting the possibility of recognizing their service as military service, stating, "We need to examine the option of recognizing this service within a military framework and see how to advance it."

ZAKA showcased its routine and emergency activities, highlighting its collaboration with the Defense establishment, Home Front Command, Israeli Police, and the Ministry of Religious Services to ensure rapid response in any emergency scenario. Katz's visit underscores the government's focus on emergency preparedness amid the potential for escalation with Iran.
