Family of IDF Lieutenant Hadar Goldin Holds First Memorial After His Return to Israel

Approximately 100 people gathered at the cemetery in Kfar Saba on Sunday to mark the 12th memorial of Lieutenant Hadar Goldin, an IDF soldier whose body was returned to Israel after years of family efforts. This was the first memorial held at his burial site since his repatriation. Attendees included members of the Goldin family, Minister Ofir Sofer, Brigadier General Avinoam Emuna, singer Idan Amadi, friends, soldiers, and relatives.

Hadar's father, Simcha Goldin, spoke about the prolonged struggle to bring his son home, emphasizing that the family never gave up despite political and security challenges. He stated, "For 12 years we did not bow to politicians, security officials, or decision-makers. We believed in the values with which the IDF was founded, to bring soldiers back from the battlefield." He credited the return to persistent determination and the efforts of soldiers who never abandoned the mission.

Hadar's sister, Ayelet Goldin, emotionally described the past year as the first time the family commemorated him at his grave. She shared how many people have expressed that Hadar's return brings them light and hope. Recounting the moment they received his body, she said she stayed close to him, praying for their family’s health and happiness. She concluded by reading a passage Hadar wrote to his soldiers, emphasizing courage and loyalty, which continues to inspire her.

Singer Idan Amadi, who has supported the family for years, also spoke, noting this was the first time he saw Simcha Goldin choked with tears. He thanked everyone involved in the effort to bring Hadar home, saying, "You all made it happen." Amadi closed the ceremony by performing his song "Finished" in memory of Hadar Goldin.
