According to sources familiar with the matter, Qatar is negotiating with Iranian officials to free these detainees. In recent days, Iran released an American citizen arrested in 2024, an act acknowledged by former US President Donald Trump. Qatar's involvement in freeing both American citizens and Jewish detainees in Iran is seen as a strategic move to position itself as the preferred regional mediator to the United States. Currently, five members of the Jewish community remain imprisoned in Iran on various charges.
