Massive Fire Destroys Wood Business in West Bank Settlement, Owners Cite Ongoing Arson Terrorism

A massive fire erupted on Saturday in the West Bank settlement of Havat Gilad, destroying 13 homes and businesses, including the successful wood warehouse "Tzameret" owned by brothers Yehuda and Yehoyada Cohen. The fire caused approximately 10 million shekels in damage. Due to the settlement's status as a "young settlement," the business was uninsured. Despite the extensive destruction, there were no casualties, which the brothers attribute to the community's preparedness and their own firefighting efforts. They filmed a spontaneous Havdalah ceremony amid the ruins, expressing gratitude and faith despite the loss. The brothers emphasized that the fire was not caused by a careless cigarette but is part of a daily pattern of arson terrorism targeting the area, citing similar recent incidents and calling on the Israeli government to take full responsibility.

Facing total loss without insurance coverage, the Cohen brothers launched a crowdfunding campaign titled "Restoring Tzameret, Havat Gilad" to rebuild their business. They concluded their interview with a message of resilience and faith, stating their commitment to rebuild stronger and affirming "Am Yisrael Chai" (the people of Israel live).
