Israeli Engineers Find Hand-Sewn Israeli Flag in Venezuelan Earthquake Zone as Gesture of Solidarity

During a structural assessment mission in the earthquake-affected La Guaira region of Venezuela, Israeli Home Front Command engineers discovered a large, hand-sewn Israeli flag hanging in the living room of a local Christian family's damaged home. The engineers, Itay Shtadler and Stav Daron, were conducting their routine inspection with a translator when they noticed the flag, which the family proudly explained was made by themselves as a symbol of their Christian faith and appreciation for the Jewish people and the Israeli delegation.

Moved by this unexpected gesture of solidarity amid disaster and loss, one of the Israeli team members removed a patch of the flag from his uniform and gifted it to the family as a token of friendship and human connection. Shtadler described the moment as particularly emotional, highlighting the warmth, trust, and support the Israeli team received from the Venezuelan people and authorities throughout their mission.

Israeli Ambassador Yoed Magen, head of the Foreign Ministry's aid delegation, emphasized that such personal stories reflect the deep human bonds formed during the humanitarian effort. He noted that the mission's impact extended beyond technical expertise to building trust, hope, and meaningful relationships with the local population. The Israeli delegation's presence was met with applause and heartfelt gestures, underscoring the significance of their work in Venezuela's recovery process.
