Hapoel Tel Aviv Advances Talks to Sign Jewish Forward Jacob Topin for 2026/27 Season
Hapoel Tel Aviv is making progress in negotiations to sign Jewish forward Jacob Topin, who played this season in Atlanta and previously in New York and the G League. The club believes Topin, who will not count as a foreign player in Israel, could join ahead of the 2026/27 season. A source from Hapoel Tel Aviv told Sport 5 that the team is confident the deal will be finalized, allowing Topin to be available during the upcoming season.
Topin’s candidacy for Hapoel Tel Aviv was first reported by Sport 5 in December, and the club has been monitoring him since then. Over the past two seasons, Topin, brother of former dunk champion Offi Topin, has been fighting for his place in the United States. The team expects no player signings until after the nine days of mourning ending on July 29 (Tisha B’Av).
If completed, Topin would strengthen the Israeli roster of the reigning league runner-up. The club continues to pursue the signing as part of its preparations for the next Israeli Basketball Premier League season.
