Leading Young Religious Zionist Torah Scholars Gain Recognition in New Project
Rabbi Binyamin Minzer, a senior lecturer at Har Etzion Yeshiva and Torah researcher, has launched a project to introduce the public to prominent young Torah scholars within the Religious Zionist community. The initiative aims to highlight their scholarship and personalities, gradually covering a broad spectrum of outstanding young scholars from this sector.
The first profile features Rabbi Liron Ben Moshe, recognized as a prodigy with exceptional intellectual abilities and a unique approach to Torah study. Raised in a Zionist family and a bereaved brother from the October 7 tragedy, Ben Moshe excelled academically from a young age, completing high school early and earning a mathematics degree before returning to religious observance. He studied in various yeshivot, gained renown for his mastery of classical Torah texts, and won the World Bible Quiz for adults. His study method emphasizes rigorous textual analysis and a quest for truth without bias.
The second profile introduces Rabbi Oz Morano, from a well-known family in the sector, noted for his deep knowledge of Talmud, halacha, and Jewish thought. Morano combined traditional yeshiva learning with Sephardic analytical methods and serves as a lecturer and judge in religious courts. Despite challenges balancing military service and Torah study, he has produced extensive scholarly works and is respected for his methodical and original approach.
Rabbi Yishai Englman, featured third, represents a renewal in Religious Zionist Torah study. Son of a veteran lecturer, he distinguished himself through deep Talmudic analysis and clarity in teaching. Englman actively contributed to unifying Hesder yeshivot and continued learning and teaching even during his military reserve service. After being seriously wounded in combat following the October 7 attacks, he has become a source of inspiration during his recovery.
The fourth profile crosses to the United States, presenting Rabbi Dr. Itamar Rosenzweig, a leading disciple of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik. Rosenzweig combines rigorous Torah scholarship with academic achievements in physics, philosophy, and Jewish history. Serving as a lecturer, rabbinic judge, and community rabbi, he advocates for Diaspora Jewish support of Israel, especially after the October 7 events. His scholarship advances the Brisker method of Talmud study, integrating broad conceptual analysis and innovative insights.
