22 New Rabbinical Instructors Ordained at Maayan Tahor Ceremony in Rishon Lezion
The Maayan Tahor network of Torah study centers held a significant event in Rishon Lezion this week, celebrating the ordination of 22 new rabbinical instructors and decisors. The ceremony took place around lavishly set tables and simultaneously marked the inauguration of eight new branches both within the city and beyond. These new rabbis and heads of kollels had spent the past six months attending weekly lessons led by the head of the study center, Rabbi Yaniv Nasir, and were now formally authorized to serve as decisors and teachers.
The event was graced by prominent Torah leaders, including the Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi David Yosef, who praised Rabbi Nasir and emphasized the unbroken chain of Torah transmission from Moses to Joshua, as outlined by Maimonides. Rabbi Yosef highlighted that Rabbi Nasir continues the halachic rulings tradition of his father, the late Rabbi Ovadia Yosef. Other speakers included the Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, Rabbi Baruch Sheraga, Rabbi Eliyahu Madar, and supporter Rabbi Chaim Bukeritz.
The highlight of the evening was the head of the study center completing a tractate on purity laws, after which the assembled crowd and newly ordained instructors engaged in prolonged, spirited dancing in honor of the Torah. This event underscored the vitality of Torah scholarship and the expansion of Maayan Tahor's educational reach.
