Massive Preparations Underway for Ultra-Orthodox IDF Recruitment Protests at Tel Hashomer

Ahead of the recruitment day for ultra-Orthodox combat support tracks (TOMCHEL) at the Tel Hashomer recruitment office on Wednesday, extensive preparations are underway by both protest organizers and police. In recent days, posters have been distributed across ultra-Orthodox communities nationwide calling for a "day of outcry and prayer" and a protest scheduled for 12:00 PM in front of the Tel Hashomer recruitment center. The posters indicate that a prayer rally featuring rabbis and yeshiva heads will precede the demonstration, followed by speeches from rabbis and public figures. Dozens of rabbis from across Israel are named in the posters urging participation.

The posters also state that in the event of arrests, detainees will be handed over to a "team of activists," and the public is asked to contribute 50 shekels for transportation costs, or 25 shekels for those unable to pay the full amount. Concurrently, police are deploying reinforced forces in anticipation of potential disturbances, roadblocks, and clashes near the recruitment office, reflecting tensions from previous protests over yeshiva student conscription.
