Donald Trump: "We will attack Iran with force, today." June 10, 2026 / Reuters Fire crews investigated a hazardous materials incident at the Pentagon a short time ago on Thursday, Arlington County fire and rescue officials said.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said the Pentagon's safety systems detected an "air quality issue in the complex," prompting precautionary steps until the situation assessment was completed. According to him, the U.S. Department of Defense activated standard protection procedures, including an instruction for those in the affected area to shelter in place.
It was also reported that emergency teams were on site and prepared to assist building employees and others inside. At this stage, no further details were provided about the source of the problem or its severity.
The building was under lockdown and people were evacuated from several floors, CNN reported, citing unnamed sources. The Pentagon spokesman said an air quality problem had been identified that required precautionary measures.
