Israeli Cabinet Approves New Settlement Near Sha-Nur in West Bank
The Israeli Security Cabinet approved a proposal by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Defense Minister Israel Katz to establish a new settlement in the West Bank near the existing settlement of Sha-Nur. The new settlement, currently referred to as Sha-Nur East, has not yet been officially named. This marks the 104th settlement approved during the current government’s tenure.
Minister Smotrich described the approval as part of a historic revolution in Judea and Samaria, aimed at preventing the establishment of a terrorist state in the heart of Israel. He emphasized that the new settlement is a significant step alongside the approval of 103 other settlements, over 160 farms, and substantial funding for infrastructure, roads, and pioneering neighborhoods in new communities.
Smotrich contrasted this expansion with left-wing plans to evacuate settlements, stating that while figures like Gadi Eizenkot and Yair Golan prepare evacuation plans, the government is creating facts on the ground. He pledged to continue strengthening the settlements and securing Israel’s safety through this settlement revolution.
