Hezbollah claimed it had shot down an Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle, identified as an IDF Heron 1, over the Nahla area in the Beqaa Valley using a dedicated missile.
According to the terrorist organization, the downing was carried out in response to what it called “ceasefire violations” and Israeli incursions into Lebanese airspace.
Hezbollah issued an official statement today, Thursday, saying its operatives brought down the drone at 4:00 p.m. over the Nahla area in the Beqaa Valley. In the group’s statement, the incident was presented as part of its activity to defend Lebanon. Hezbollah did not publish footage of the downing and did not provide further details on the condition of the aircraft after it was hit.
Following the incident, it was reported that the IDF struck the drone’s crash site. According to reports, the strike was intended to prevent the collection of components, weapons, or sensitive intelligence information that may have been inside the aircraft.
A request for comment was submitted to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit and will be published when received.
