Lihi Griner Urges Women to Dress More Modestly: “Even If It’s Long Leggings, Stop”

Lihi Griner is calling on women to dress more modestly outside the gym. According to her, an encounter with staff at a haredi kindergarten she entered by mistake made her realize that not every outfit suitable for a workout is also appropriate for the street.

The social media star shared today, Thursday, an experience she had when she entered a kindergarten near her home, unaware that it was a haredi setting. According to her, she arrived wearing tight athletic clothing, and when she noticed the character of the place and the female staff, she suddenly felt uncomfortable.

"It was the first time I went there," she said. According to her, when she noticed that some of the staff were wearing head coverings, she felt more exposed than she had expected and even tried to cover herself. "I felt naked, I always have a jacket or a cardigan," she said.

Griner explained that she came to the kindergarten to borrow an item, and did not know in advance about the nature of the place. "I said, 'I’m so sorry, I didn’t know how modest you are here,'" she recounted of her reaction once she understood where she had entered.

However, according to her, the story is not really about the haredi kindergarten itself, but about the thoughts that came up for her after the encounter. Griner argued that there is a difference between clothing suitable for the gym and clothing suitable for public spaces. "It doesn’t matter how I come to the gym, because there everyone is dressed the same," she said.

She then used the opportunity to address her followers and share her personal view on sportswear outside the workout setting. "Don’t do it, just don’t," she said. "Even if it’s long leggings, stop."

According to her, the experience at the kindergarten made her realize again how workout clothes can look revealing outside the gym environment, and led her to the conclusion that not every outfit suitable for exercise is also suitable for everyday wear in the street.
