Israeli Analyst Criticizes US for Restrained Approach Against Iran
Zvi Yehezkel, Arab affairs analyst for i24NEWS, expressed concern over the United States' cautious stance toward Iran, arguing that Washington is not demonstrating sufficient strength in its responses. Yehezkel criticized the US for targeting Iran in a limited manner, avoiding actions that might provoke a disproportionate Iranian reaction. He believes this restraint is a missed opportunity, especially now when Iran perceives itself as dominant.
Yehezkel suggested that the US should intensify its pressure on Iran by targeting its leadership, media outlets, and critical channels that affect the Revolutionary Guards' control and visibility, including covert cyber operations. He contrasted this with former President Donald Trump's approach, which he described as engaging in cycles of limited strikes rather than decisive blows.
According to Yehezkel, Iran aims to draw the US into a dynamic where the stronger party with advanced weaponry, such as F-35 jets, limits itself to restrained responses, allowing Iran to exploit this weakness. He warned that these limited attacks have not weakened Iran and stressed the importance of seizing the moment to launch more severe actions.
Drawing parallels with Hamas's experience during years of intermittent conflict, Yehezkel noted that such groups often emerge stronger internally after these cycles. He concluded by emphasizing the need for the US to make Iran realize its miscalculations to prevent it from gaining further strength.
