Three West Bank Settlers Detained for Racist Abuse Against Ethiopian Israeli Police
Three settlers were detained for questioning after directing racist insults at Ethiopian Israeli police officers during a law enforcement operation in the West Bank settlement of Adi Ad. The incident occurred during an arrest attempt of a suspect involved in nationalist crime. As police prepared to leave, two residents of the home, a man and a woman, shouted derogatory remarks at an Ethiopian female detective and a Border Police officer. The woman called the detective a racial slur, repeating it even after being warned it was illegal. The man, under house arrest, insulted the Border Police officer by calling him "Sudanese." Security officials reported additional offensive statements accusing the police of sexual harassment and theft. Due to these offensive remarks, the three suspects were detained but later released under restrictive conditions, with the investigation ongoing.
The district police commander, Commissioner Moshe Pinchi, expressed full support for the officers, condemning the settlers' behavior as disgraceful. He emphasized the police's commitment to act decisively and sensitively against lawbreakers while continuing efforts to combat terrorism and crime in the Judea and Samaria region.
