Turkish Prisoner on Leave Kills Ex-Wife and Then Himself During Visit

A shocking incident unfolded in southern Turkey when Eyüp Atar, a prisoner granted temporary leave, visited his ex-wife and mother of his two children. The visit, intended as routine, ended tragically in Gaziantep's Şehitkamil district. Late at night, an argument erupted between Atar and his ex-wife Esengül Doğu for unknown reasons. The dispute escalated violently, with Atar stabbing Doğu multiple times, resulting in her death. Following the attack, Atar committed suicide by hanging himself.

Family members, unable to reach Doğu, went to her home and discovered both bodies. They immediately alerted the police and medical teams, who arrived at the scene. The deceased were later handed over to their relatives for burial. Turkish authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this fatal event, which has deeply disturbed the local community.
