Russia Seizes AI-Driven Western Drones Hidden in Electronics for Attacks on Russian Bases
The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced the seizure of AI-powered drones manufactured in Western countries, which were smuggled into Russia concealed within household electronics. According to Reuters, these advanced drones, produced in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Sweden, each carried over one kilogram of explosives and were intended for targeted strikes deep inside Russian territory.
The drones utilized artificial intelligence-based navigation systems to evade Russian electronic jamming measures. Ukrainian agents involved in the operation were arrested after transporting the drones, which initially landed in the Bryansk region near the border, hidden inside trailers with double bottoms. The final targets were military airbases in the Chelyabinsk region in the Ural Mountains and the Amur region in the Russian Far East, specifically the Shagol and Ukureyka airbases.
This operation resembles a previous 2025 attack named "Spider Web," which damaged about twenty Russian military aircraft using trucks with wooden sheds and retractable roofs to approach targets. Recently, Moscow has intensified accusations against Western countries, blaming them for direct involvement in Ukraine's long-range attacks. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated last week that the "special military operation" in Ukraine has escalated into a full-scale war due to broad Western support for Kyiv.
