Democratic Party Leader Yair Golan Compares Palestinian and Jewish Terrorism, Criticizes Shin Bet Chief

Yair Golan, chairman of the Democratic Party, sharply criticized Shin Bet chief David Zini and equated Palestinian terrorism with what he terms "Jewish terrorism." In an interview on Nadav Perry's podcast, Golan called for halting funding to institutions in the West Bank settlement of Bnei David Bialik. He outlined his vision of a two-state solution, emphasizing the need to stop further annexation, combat both Palestinian and Jewish terrorism, and evacuate illegal outposts and farms. Golan expressed willingness to agree on these points with political figures such as Naftali Bennett, Gadi Eisenkot, and Avigdor Lieberman.

Golan strongly attacked David Zini's appointment as Shin Bet head, stating that Zini was unfit for the role due to his failure in the October 7 events and his sole loyalty to Prime Minister Netanyahu rather than Israel's laws and institutions. He argued that the Shin Bet requires an experienced general with intelligence background to lead effectively. When asked if his party would fire Zini if in government, Golan responded that they are patient but expect Zini to ensure thorough investigation of the Qatar affair and address "Jewish terrorism" in Judea and Samaria, both of which he believes are currently neglected.
