Peshischa Rebbe Moves Summer Retreat to Essen, Germany Due to Wife’s Medical Care

The Peshischa Rebbe, recognized as the senior Rebbe in Europe, will alter his traditional summer retreat plans this year due to his wife’s health condition. Typically, the Rebbe spends his summer months in the French mountains, where followers rent a suitable residence for him. However, this year he will relocate his summer stay to Essen, Germany, to remain close to his wife, who is receiving medical treatment at a local hospital there.

To accommodate this change, the community’s organizers have prepared a special apartment near the hospital to enable the Rebbe to continue his religious duties and daily routines without interruption. This adjustment reflects the Rebbe’s commitment to be near his wife during her medical challenges, seeking divine mercy for her recovery.

The Rebbe is scheduled to depart for Essen on Tuesday and plans to return to his main residence in Antwerp, Belgium, by the beginning of the Hebrew month of Elul, just before the Days of Awe. This move marks a significant departure from his usual summer practice, underscoring the importance of family and health in his leadership role.
