Darg Rebbe Cuts Short Swiss Rest Trip After Sudden Weakness

The Darg Rebbe ended his annual rest stay in Davos, Switzerland, after experiencing sudden weakness and consulting his doctors. He returned during the week to his home in Bnei Brak on a direct flight to Israel aboard a private jet. He was accompanied by attendants, family members, and several close associates who join him each year.

The trip had originally been scheduled for two weeks in Davos, followed by several more days in the Hungarian town of Darg, near the burial site of the dynasty’s founder, the author of the "Amri Shefer." Instead, the move home was made immediately after the medical consultation. The rebbe’s eldest son, Rabbi Asher Rosenfeld, who had planned to fly out early this week to be with his father, canceled his flight at the last minute.

Sources in the chassidic circle said the Davos stay is not a vacation in the usual sense, but a period of intense Torah study, with participants learning around the clock and only briefly joining the rebbe for prayers and special gatherings. This coming Shabbat, the rebbe will remain at his residence on Habbakuk Street in Bnei Brak, where prayers and tish gatherings will be held in a very reduced format.

The reduced Shabbat schedule is due partly to health concerns and partly to the fact that many followers had already planned to spend Shabbat with their families, assuming the rebbe was abroad. The chassidic court said he is expected, God willing, to resume leading public prayers and meals next week, and followers were asked to pray for his recovery and renewed strength.
